You cannot come in between this woman (me) and her shoes. I adore heels and what could possibly be more amazing than adorned heels?! Am I right?! Okay, seriously, I haven’t gotten much sleep this week, but I had to blog about these custom shoes. Based out of Berlin, this guy is cranking out some beautiful custom shoes. So as I continue sipping my chai with a shot of espresso, I would like to note that his illustrations are particularlly intriguing to me. They’re certainly influenced by the crafts and patterns of the Aztecs, but oh the geometry! I actually feel inspired to get a tattoo based on these graphical elements. So please check out the blog and if you’re a shoe lover, get ready.

I ran into the work of Alex Fischer the other night, I just wanted to share it with you, it makes very happy.

The crew at Strukt just won over my heart with their sequence for this year’s Toca Me conference. I completely adore geometry and basic shapes and this showcases their beauty. <3 geometry!

I have to admit, I love Kanye West’s new album, it’s unique and I read in an article and that he calls it pop art, and that’s fairly accurate, in my opinion. What’s better than his album is this INSANE music video directed by Nabil Elderkin. I thought there was something wrong with the video at first and then I realized this is just a really crazy video. The method he used is called “data moshing”. Another video also recently released by Ray Tintori for a band called Chairlift looks similar, though I’m partial to the Kanye West version. Who does it better?

I just wanted to share this wonderful free typeface with you called Quicksand, by Typophile. It comes in dashed, light, book and bold. I mean what more can you ask for? It’s free! Nothing, seriously this is a really pretty typeface and I’m currently obsessed with it.

Geometry certainly seems to be influencing design in a big way and I expect trends in design to really showcase that this year. I’m not really sure if anyone has blogged about this already, but it’s just my opinion. Think pattern and geometric shapes, high contrast. To go with my personal love for these bold graphics, I found Andy Gilmore, hails from Rochester (where I’m attending school). Check out his flickr stream too, I’ve seen his work on ffffound, but it has a sort of retro feel and never really thought it could be so current.

I’m not real sure how I feel about The Omega Code’s music, though it is interesting. The visualizations are amazing and their call for poster designs has created quite a fuss in the design community. Check out their flickr stream. I want to add that I’m seeing triangles EVERYWHERE. Anyone else noticing this design trend? I dig triangles.

I ran in to the works of Grant Hamilton today, I really like his geometric polaroids. They’re abstract and retro and remind me of many current web trends I’ve been seeing lately.

Check out designer Axel Peemoller’s website, it has click and dragable elements that lets you create your own designs. I found myself playing and actually having fun with his portfolio. I like the philisophical aspects behind this concept as well.

I love computational art, theres something attractive about seemingly controlled chaos. Henze’s work is beautiful and reminds me, in some ways, of Rothko in it’s simplicity. Imagine his work the size a giant wall or projected onto a landscape and enjoy.
